The Background
The Leadenham Players have been performing in Leadenham for over twenty years. Over this time a variety of shows have been performed from musicals to laugh a minute pantomimes. These days the players focus all their efforts on the pantomime which is traditionally shown on the last weekend of January and the first weekend of February. Pantomimes that have been performed over the years range from the traditional (Snow White, Jack and the Beanstalk) to the bizarre (Dracula, Panto at the OK Corral). For the past four years the pantomime has been written especially for the players by 22 year old Chris Colley and long serving cast member, David Mitchell, 70. This began for the 07/08 panto with 'The Genie, The Witch and The Red Robe'. The pair followed that up by writing 'Alice in Pantoland' and 'A Peep at the Billy Goats Gruff.' Last year they wrote the successful pantomime 'Peter's Pan 2 Mime'. They hope to follow up this success with a unique adaptation of the classic, Aladdin, - 'A-Lad-In Tights'. With a cast ranging in age from 5 - 70, come and join the fun this Winter!
